Expert Video - What are the latest advances in the treatment of IBS-Constipation?

Dr. Satish Rao, an expert on irritable bowel syndrome with constipation (IBS-C) and other digestive system diseases, reviews the latest advances in the treatment of IBS-C in adults. He describes the new prescription medication tenapanor, which is in a class of medications called sodium/hydrogen exchanger (NHE3) inhibitors. It retains sodium within the lumen of the small bowel, and thereby it facilitates more frequent and softer bowel movements. It also has effects on visceral hypersensitivity and permeability.
